Then southwards to the uniquely beautiful Marigot Bay before returning to Castries for a visit to the Animation Center for an encapsulated display of our links to our historic past.
Your experienced guide takes you by bus through the small communities in the north of the Island, a mixture of cultivated lands and natural vegetation for a glimpse of how some of our people live in the interior of the Island. Unbelievable panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea spread out before you; the French Island Martinique can be seen on a clear day. A Colonial Plantation the Marquis Estate is the next scene on your journey before going through the small community of Paix Bouche, the birthplace of Empress Josephine, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte.
The journey continues southwards through the suburbs of Castries overlooking the City and the Vigie Lighthouse, as you make your way up to Morne Fortune, the home of old British Military Barracks- now converted into an educational complex named after one of St. Lucia's Nobel Laureates, Sir Arthur Lewis. Leaving Castries you take the expansive Roseau Valley, our largest Banana plantation, after which the fairy tale Marigot Bay opens before your eyes. It's time for a stop for some local refreshment.
Back to Castries for a true fascinating visit to the Animation Centre at the La Place Carenage Duty Free Shopping Complex to view the "Iyanola Experience" - a chronological account of St. Lucia's colonial past reliving the historical events so rich in Heritage, Culture, Art and Technology.Truly a tour not to be missed!!!!
